LTEC 5510 Week 10
There is not much time left in the session to complete your project, so it is a good time to think about what needs to be done. What is left to do? What challenges have you faced? Will you be able to meet your timeline for completion? Why or why not? Will you be able to implement? Evaluate? This project has had its ups and downs. Time management has been difficult. With all the coronavirus shelter in place mess, I haven’t been able to focus on grad school as much as I would like. I am someone who goes places like a Starbucks or the Library to get my homework done. I don’t want to be at home, because it is so distracting. I am finally getting the hang of working with my messy desk and the TV on in the background. It is incredible what you can do when you have to do it.
One of my partners, Leonard, has called this class a godsend. He has had to convert his in-person instructional course into an online course. If I were still a teacher, I would say the same thing. Considering that every student in this country is now an online student, I can see this being very valuable to my future.
Unfortunately, whatever timeline I created seems to have gone out the window. I need to get a few more activities for the last two weeks. Some of the weeks, like the Punnett Square week, have more than a week’s worth of content to cover. Some weeks, on the other hand, don’t. I might need to have some topics worth of material expand across multiple weeks.
The grades in my course, also seem unbalanced. I need to figure out how to mathematically make each assignment group weigh the appropriate amount. Right now, it looks like most of the points in my course are quizzes.
I have changed course with Geneverse. Instead of making a weeklong activity, it seemed smarter to spread Geneverse material throughout every week rather than just use if for a single one. While some of the content will be review for students in later weeks, it is good for them to have repetition. It also allows me to make more Punnett square activities, something sorely needed in this course.
Despite the setbacks, there is a lot of progress going on in this course. I seem to have all my videos in order. I fixed most of the links on the site. All the multimedia material is complete. I seem to have an abundance of videos and quizzes and discussion board stuff done. It seems like he Punnett square quiz questions seemed especially interesting to the people who peer-reviewed my course.
The primary tasks left in this course are as follows: Expand some of the weeks with more material into the ones that have less. Write instructions on how to use Geneverse. Add worksheets to every week. Write directions down for all of the weeks. Balance all the grades out. And more importantly, stop stressing out over this.
